Manning followed behind his father who was known as the "folk hero" at Ole Miss. During Eli Manning's freshman at Ole Miss he did not get much playing time but once starting quarterback senior Romaro Miller graduated, Manning became Ole Miss's starting quarterback his sophomore year. He ended his sophomore year with a 7-4 record and 31 touchdowns. Manning ended his junior season with a 7-6 record and 21 touchdowns. During Manning's senior season he was awarded the Maxwell Award as the "nation's best all-around player". He also was awarded "the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Award, the Sporting News Radio Socrates Award, and the SEC Most Valuable Player Award". Manning was also a very good student, ending the year with a 3.44 GPA and made the Dean's list.


Eli Manning was the first overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Chargers (San Diego). Later in the draft he was traded to the Giants (New York), where he played 16 seasons as their starting quarterback and retired in 2019. He lead the Giants to two Super Bowl victories as the underdog and was awarded the Most Valuable Player in both games. Manning is only 1 of 5 NFL players to receive the MVP Super Bowl award more than once. Manning is ranked 9th in touchdowns and 8th in passing yards. Between 2004 and 2017 he started 210 games in a row, earning the third longest consecutive start streak by an NFL quarterback.
